Relationship between heart and Lungs


The Relationship between the Heart and Lungs is in a word “Complimentary”, one just cannot survive without the other, not naturally at least, so this is how it works.

We’re going to try to make this as simple as possible, so pay attention.
Right Atrium = RA
Left Atrium = LA
Right Ventricle = RV
Left Ventricle = LV
Pulmonary Artery = PA
Pulmonary Vein = PV

Both left and right atrium contract together. And both left and right ventricles contract together. But Atriums contracts first and the Ventricles contract second, giving the lub-dub sound.

1. Blood depleted of oxygen is sent to the RA. Blood comes from Inferior and Superior Vena Cava, and coronary veins.
2. RA contracts and the blood is pushed through a valve into the RV
3. RV contracts and the blood is sent to PA (NOT PV!!) and into the lungs
4. Blood gets oxygenated in the lungs
5. From the lungs the oxygenated blood goes through PV and into LA
6. LA contracts and sends oxygenated blood to LV
7. LV contracts and sends the oxygenated blood into the Aorta
8. Coronary arteries are connected to the Aorta, so the blood now goes to the coronary artery and everywhere else in the body,
9. Start again at #1

Well they work together in the Cardiovascular system. The simple way this works is, the heart has an artery leaving it and going to the heart called the pulmonary artery. Blood that goes from the heart to the lungs will become oxygenated and also dump Carbon Dioxide.
It is oxygenated through the process of diffusion at the alveoli of the lungs, these small thing bubbled structures are thin enough for oxygen and CO2 to pass through, because of how diffusion works, oxygen in the lungs will move to the blood as there isn’t much there, and CO2 in the blood will move to the lungs since there isn’t much there.
After that the blood will return oxygenated to the heart in veins called Pulmonary veins. Then the blood will be pumped out into the body through arteries to drop off oxygen and pick up CO2, also through diffusion. Then the blood will return to the heart in veins and be pumped back into the lungs through the pulmonary artery to continue to cycle.
Note: arteries are blood vessels moving blood away from the heart, and veins are blood vessels moving blood towards the heart.

The heart pumps oxygen-laden blood (red) to all parts of the body and venous (blue) blood back to the lungs. The lungs oxygenate the venous blood, thus releasing carbon dioxide in the exhalation, bringing in more oxygen to purify the blood with every inhalation.

Carbon is a waste product of cellular activity. Hyperventilation brings the oxygen levels to 100%.

To slow the heart, as is done by yogis, the yogi must still the breath. To still the breath, the yogi must reduce carbon waste and provide for an alternative means to enliven the cells. When the cells are thus electrified through the magnetism in the spine and brain developed over years of hyperventilation coupled with localized tensions, suspended animation ensues. Control over the autonomic functions of the body is accomplished by locking the activity of the medulla oblongata.
